A €900 CAR.

A man bought it new in 1998. When he could no longer renew his licence because of poor eyesight, it ended up at a used-car dealer outside Barcelona. I was looking for any car under €1,000 that could take me to the North Cape.

Right after I bought it, it repeatedly stalled. Then first and second gear disappeared. Four days later, without even giving it a proper inspection, I pointed it towards Norway. The trip was meant to end in Tromsø. Instead, it became the beginning of everything.

Today it has 327,000 km and has crossed Europe, Asia and the Americas. It is still the same 1998 Fiat Marea that cost €900.
