IT STARTED WITH A BROKEN PHONE.
In 2022, I travelled to India to ride a motorcycle across the north of the country on my own. On the first day I rode for more than six hours through relentless rain and my iPhone died. I bought a Xiaomi from a shop outside Nalagarh that was half grocery store, half phone shop.
Without access to my SIM, I could not use WhatsApp. Instagram was the only app I could log into. So I started sharing the trip through Close Friends Stories: the food, roads, bike and people. Without noticing, it started looking like a travel channel.
Back home, I started with cars because I still had a full-time job and could not just disappear around the world. I wanted a name that was not my own and could one day become bigger than me. A ridiculous sticker from a friend —“volatta di peluka”— eventually became Volata di Peluca.
